Another year, another set of lists. I check the stats at least once a year to see what readers want to read. As a writer, I’ll write what I want to write, but readers are the reason to write. Unfortunately, most readers are too busy to comment. I know I am; I rarely leave comments, though may deliver them in-person rather than in a broadcast. What did folks care to read since I’ve started this blog? What got the most traffic in 2025?
Here’s the list of the ten most popular posts so far on this blog since its beginning (September 2023).
- A New Gig – Island Roots Housing (2024)
- Whidbey Island Comicon – 2025 – After (2025)
- Ten Years Of Twelve Months On Whidbey Island (2024)
- Muddling By – Third Draft Finished (2025)
- How A Book Can Begin (2025)
- Amazon Author Page And Central (2025)
- Fire Race Is Published (2024)
- Writing As Refuge (2024)
- Care (2025)
- Why Write (2024)
Interesting and refreshing. Readers read across the range of my topics: paid writing, public speaking, photo essays, personal finance, the process of writing, the process of selling, and the philosophy of writing and being a writer.

2025 didn’t have much photo news (though that book begins today-ish), and no paid writing (mostly because of a change of address), so there were a few others that were more popular, mostly about the mechanics of being a writer.
2026 begins today (as I type). Twelve Months at Hurricane Ridge begins as I sort through thousands of photos for 2 horizontals and 2 verticals for each month which will then become a book, an online gallery, and hopefully a physical gallery. In the meantime, I’ll start taking photos for the next Twelve Month series. The third book in my sci-fi trilogy begins as I handle the cliffhanger from Fire Race. I might have to re-read that last chapter. Where will I go from there? Where do I want to take the story? How do I want it to end?
Thanks for being there. If you’re reading, great! If you’re writing, also great! If you’re both, most excellent!
