A Draft Is Done Again 021024

Not necessarily a literary post, but I’ve decided to chronicle my process, somewhat.

Tonight I finished the third draft of the sequel to Firewatcher.

As I posted on social media (@tetrimbath);

Quick note as a way to celebrate progress:

Third draft (of the sequel to Firewatcher) done. Got onto a bit of a roll.
Backed up as usual. (and copied onto Google Drive, and onto a card, and into a couple of formats.
I’m guessing at three more substantive edits followed by formatting edits. Oh fun.

Thanks for being there and listening.

  • First draft (especially for a sequel) = I left them there. They have to end up over there. I wonder how we’ll get there.
  • Second draft = We got there, but that was a bumpy ride and the plot holes require heavy equipment.
  • Third draft = Of, so that motivation surprised even me! Well, I can’t ignore that. Ugh, but look at this writing. It looks like an engineer wrote it. Hey! I’m that engineer. Okay, next draft gets creative and more of the funny get added.
  • Fourth draft = Be patient. I’ll get there.

It’s late on a Saturday night. Enough typing for today. Put scifi aside for a while. My next step is to step over to the screenplay about the sailing life of a 14 year-old brat in 1876 and finish reading the Screenwriters Bible. Then… I’ll plan then, then.

Thanks for staying tuned in.
